Panerai Luminor 44mm Strap 24/24 Alden Color 8

Description

About the Leather:  This strap is an absolute masterpiece on the wrist.  This Alden Color 8 Panerai burgundy strap is completely handmade and hand stitched with pride and attention to detail as with all of my straps.  For this project, I selected a thick and semi-glossy chrome tanned leather with a deep and rich burgundy tone.  This hefty strap measures about 5.5mm thick making it a perfect fit for the 44mm Panerai case.  The deep color gets lighter as you flex the leather.  This strap is of a medium-soft rigidity, and will form to your wrist in a short period of time.  I selected an awesome medium brown thread for the stitching on this project.  The strap design features one floating keeper and one fixed.  I have added a subtle crease to the edges of the strap and keepers.

This burgundy Alden Color 8 Panerai strap features by default a brushed stainless steel vintage style pin buckle that is sewn in place.  Additional buckle options are available from the drop down menu if you would like a different configuration.  Above, you can view this strap paired with the polarizing but stunning PAM00632.  Due to the unique temper and finish of this leather, it will develop character fairly quickly with consistent wear.  This is simply legendary and if you own a pair of Alden shoes in Color 8 Burgundy, you’ll be immediately familiar with this leather and color.  The burgundy color really comes out in sunlight, and photographs alone cannot capture it’s beauty.  In conclusion, the perfect strap for Alden fans!

Additional Information:  The 44mm Panerai Luminor is the true workhorse of the Panerai lineup, and by far has the most potential for aftermarket strap creation.  While larger 47mm case models demand thicker straps, the 44mm Luminor case is more flexible and works with a variety of different strap thicknesses.  With that in mind, I make most of my 44mm case Panerai straps with thinner thread that what I use on the 47mm case models.  When I select the thread and spacing, I take into consideration the thickness and temper of the leather.

Most of my 24mm custom straps for 44mm Panerai models utilize a vintage Panerai style pin buckle. However, you will find that many straps in this section also have additional buckle options.  My general design philosophy for 24mm straps is dual keepers of generous width, box stitching, and a thickness or 3.5 to 5.5mm depending on leather temper.

Finally, all of my 24mm Panerai straps for 44mm cases are 24/24mm, without a taper.  The only tapered straps that I make are for Radiomir cases.  My design preferences for the 44mm Panerai case tend towards longer buckle sides and shorter bottom sides. Above all, the aim is to achieve as much balance as possible.  Additionally, the stitching margins will be thinner on my 24mm Panerai straps than they are on my 47mm Panerai straps.

I pride myself in each aftermarket Panerai strap that I produce and perform the entire process by hand without templates or machines of any sort.  I use the absolute basic tools, the same tools that I used as a boot maker for nearly two decades.  In conclusion, as a result of the handmade nature of these straps, no two are identical.
