Panerai Luminor 44mm Strap 24/22 “Newport Legend”

Description

About the Leather:  I created this tapered 44mm OEM style Panerai strap 100% by hand as with all of the straps you see listed on my site.  I selected a chrome tanned leather with a uniform finish for the creation of this strap.  This strap features a taper from 24mm at the lugs to 22mm at the buckle.  Thus, the strap can also be used on all 44mm Panerai cases.  This strap features white stitching in a boxed pattern, 100% done by hand.  I designed this strap with one floating keeper and one fixed.  Additional stitching has been placed at the buckle end to re-enforce the buckle area.  The edges of this strap feature a soft crease.

This strap ships by default with an OEM style trapezoidal buckle.  Furthermore, you may select brushed or polished options for the buckle from the drop down menu.  Additionally, you may choose to remove the included buckle and install your OEM buckle at a later point in time.  Pictured above, you may see this strap on the Panerai PAM00632 Luminor Marina 44mm.  This strap is quite versatile and would suit a wide variety of dial and case combinations.  Finally, the strap in the photos above measures 125/80.

Measurements:  This strap is 24/24, with a thickness of ~4.5mm.

Additional Information:  The 44mm Panerai Luminor is the true workhorse of the Panerai lineup, and by far has the most potential for aftermarket strap creation.  While larger 47mm case models demand thicker straps, the 44mm Luminor case is more flexible and works with a variety of different strap thicknesses.  With that in mind, I make most of my 44mm case Panerai straps with thinner thread.  When I select the thread and spacing, I take into consideration the thickness and temper of the leather.

Most of my 24mm custom straps for 44mm Panerai models utilize a vintage Panerai style pin buckle. However, you will find that many straps in this section also have additional buckle options in the drop down menus above.  My general design philosophy for 24mm straps is dual keepers of generous width, box stitching, and a thickness or 3.5 to 5.5mm depending on leather temper.

Finally, all of my 24mm Panerai straps for 44mm cases are 24/24mm, without a taper.  The only tapered straps that I make are for Radiomir cases.  My design preferences for the 44mm Panerai case tend towards longer buckle sides and shorter bottom sides. Above all, the aim is to achieve as much balance as possible.  Additionally, the stitching margins will be thinner on my 24mm Panerai straps than they are on my 47mm Panerai straps.

I pride myself in each aftermarket Panerai strap that I produce and perform the entire process by hand without templates or machines of any sort.  I use the absolute basic tools, the same tools that I used as a boot maker for nearly two decades.  In conclusion, as a result of the handmade nature of these straps, no two are identical.
