Description
About the Leather: Let’s talk for a moment about this amazing tan handmade Radiomir strap which I have created 100% by hand from scratch. For this project, I selected a vegetable tanned leather with a glossy tan luxurious finish. This gorgeous and unique strap features thick and durable beige stitching, done by hand as per usual. I invested great effort in finding just the right leather to produce this strap. This leather has a glossy top side finish that will absolutely darken and absorb scratches and scars from daily wear. This strap will age with character, and it will do so in a relatively but not excessively short period of time. Personally this is my all time favorite leather to make Radiomir straps with.
Now a bit about the design of this handmade Radiomir strap. What you cannot see in the photos is the subtle bolstering that I have added to the strap which begins where the strap ends mount to the watch and then slowly tapers off. This gives the strap an almost invisible taper of ~4mm to 3mm which you can feel and see when you examine the strap up close. This subtle bolstering plays off of the pillowcase shape of the Radiomir, which itself tapers off more drastically around the edges. Additionally, I have designed the strap to feature a single, thick sewn-in keeper. The strap features hand stitching in a boxed pattern for maximum durability.
*The buckle in the photos above is not included by default. I designed this strap to work with your OEM Panerai Radiomir 22mm trapezoidal buckle. For this reason, this strap has the option to order without buckle. If you would like an OEM style trapezoidal buckle, they are available in three finishes from the drop down menu above at a modest additional cost. Additionally, I have used oval shaped buckle holes similar to OEM straps on this particular design. Being light in color, this strap can and will absorb stains. Finally, in objective terms of visual appeal, this is probably the most interesting and attractive tan Radiomir strap ever produced. You may see the strap above on the 47mm PAM00425, but it fits 45mm Radiomir models equally well.

Additional Information: For each Panerai watch, I have a different design philosophy when it comes to making straps. The Radiomir is my historical favorite among all Panerai cases. I bought my first Radiomir nearly two decades ago and did not start making straps for them until many years later when I neared retirement. The Radiomir is a fun and challenging case to make custom straps for.Â
On larger Panerai cases in the 47mm range, I tend to use thicker thread with wider spacing. For the Radiomir I employ a mixture of both thicker and thinner threads, and both tight and wide spacing. When determining the thread thickness and spacing I take into account the characteristics of the leather. As a general rule, I tend to make my custom Radiomir straps in thicknesses ranging from 3.5 to 5.0mm. The average thickness will be somewhere in the middle.
Due to the wire lugs of the typical Panerai Radiomir case, I tend to lean towards leathers of a slightly softer and more pliable temper. From a design perspective, I tend to utilize a taper of 27-22 or 26-22 depending on the leather. If you have a larger 47mm Radiomir case, like a PAM323, I highly recommend going with straps of 4.5mm thickness or above. I have even designed some custom Radiomir straps specifically for the 47mm Radiomir cases that have a bolstered taper.
Please do not hesitate to contact me prior to the purchase of your customer Panerai Radiomir strap. I would be happy to guide you on your journey towards the best bespoke strap for your individual needs. I pride myself in each aftermarket Panerai strap that I produce. The entire process is done by hand without templates or machines of any sort. I use the absolute basic tools, the same tools that I used as a boot maker for nearly two decades. As a result of the hand made nature of these straps, no two are identical.
