Description
About the Leather: As with all of the straps that I create, this thick Radiomir strap is completely handmade from start to finish. For this project, I sought a thick but resilient chrome tanned leather in medium brown. The goal was attaining as much thickness as possible within reasonable means while at the same time maintaining a soft temper. This leather has a nice consistent finish on top that is resistant to oils and liquids. This strap features a soft crease along the edges. The design features one floating keeper and one fixed. I selected ivory white thread for this strap. This thick Radiomir strap is 100% hand stitched in a boxed pattern with an extra row of stitching at the buckle. The design of this strap features circular holes to accommodate the razor buckle.
I designed this strap in an OEM style, with the tip of the fold terminating near the buckle for added strength near the lugs.
This strap would look brilliant with brown stitching as well. Feel free to request alternate stitching colors at no additional fee. This thick Radiomir strap is pictured here on the PAM00292 with a flat vintage style buckle in PVD coated black. Additional buckle options are available from the drop down menu. This classic color combo suits most dial and case color combinations. Furthermore, if you wish to use your OEM buckle, you may select the “no buckle” option from the buckle drop down menu. Additionally, as this Radiomir strap is quite thick, you may want to order one size larger than you normally get. For example, if normally wear 125/75 straps, you may want to select 130/80 for this one.

Additional Information: For each Panerai watch, I have a different design philosophy when it comes to making straps. The Radiomir is my historical favorite among all Panerai cases. I bought my first Radiomir nearly two decades ago and did not start making straps for them until many years later when I neared retirement. The Radiomir is a fun and challenging case to make custom straps for.Â
On larger Panerai cases in the 47mm range, I tend to use thicker thread with wider spacing. For the Radiomir I employ a mixture of both thicker and thinner threads, and both tight and wide spacing. When determining the thread thickness and spacing I take into account the characteristics of the leather. As a general rule, I tend to make my custom aftermarket Radiomir straps in thicknesses ranging from 3.5 to 5.0mm. The average thickness will be somewhere in the middle.
Due to the wire lugs of the typical Panerai Radiomir case, I tend to lean towards leathers of a slightly softer and more pliable temper. From a design perspective, I tend to utilize a taper of 27-22 or 26-22 depending on the leather. If you have a larger 47mm Radiomir case, like a PAM323, I highly recommend going with straps of 4.5mm thickness or above. I have even designed some custom aftermarket Radiomir straps specifically for the 47mm Radiomir cases that have a bolstered taper where the strap meets the case.
Please do not hesitate to contact me prior to the purchase of your custom Panerai Radiomir strap. I would be happy to guide you on your journey towards the best bespoke strap for your individual needs. I pride myself in all aftermarket Panerai straps that I produce. In addition, I complete the entire process by hand without templates or machines of any sort. Futhermore, I use the absolute basic tools, the same tools that I used as a boot maker for nearly two decades. Finally, as a result of the hand made nature of these straps, no two are identical.
