Description
About the Leather: For this Radiomir strap project, I selected a thick, combination tanned water buffalo hide with a rugged finish. This cherry red leather is of a medium temper and is relatively thick, lending it characteristics of durability. As with all of my Panerai Radiomir straps, this rugged strap is completely handcrafted from start to finish. Additionally, the stitching is all done by hand. For this strap, I selected an ivory white thread, thicker than usual to contrast the color tone of the leather. The stitching is completed in a boxed pattern with an extra line of stitching at the buckle. I designed this strap in the traditional way, with the fold terminating at the buckle end. On a softness scale of 1-10 with 10 being the softest possible leather, this strap is about a 5 or 6.
This strap design features one fixed and one floating keeper. The edges of the strap feature a soft crease. Additionally, this strap ships by default with a vintage style flat pin buckle, sewn in place. Additional buckle options are always available from the drop down menu. The sample strap in the photos above measures 125/80 for perspective. As usual, I can make it in any size that you prefer. Pictured above, you may see this rugged Panerai Radiomir strap on the Panerai Radiomir 8 Days PAM00992. The neutral tones of this strap make it a great match for nearly any dial and case combo. This is a leather that is going to age well over time. It will begin to show wear and tear while maintaining its integrity.
**As with all straps on my site, this strap is available with a “no buckle” option that allows you to use your OEM buckle. If you wish to use your OEM buckle, please select “No Buckle”.

Additional Information: For each Panerai watch, I have a different design philosophy when it comes to making straps. The Radiomir is my historical favorite among all Panerai cases. I bought my first Radiomir nearly two decades ago and did not start making straps for them until many years later when I neared retirement. The Radiomir is a fun and challenging case to make custom straps for.
On larger Panerai cases in the 47mm range, I tend to use thicker thread with wider spacing. For the Radiomir I employ a mixture of both thicker and thinner threads, and both tight and wide spacing. When determining the thread thickness and spacing I take into account the characteristics of the leather. As a general rule, I tend to make my custom aftermarket Radiomir straps in thicknesses ranging from 3.5 to 5.0mm. The average thickness will be somewhere in the middle.
Due to the wire lugs of the typical Panerai Radiomir case, I tend to lean towards leathers of a slightly softer and more pliable temper. From a design perspective, I tend to utilize a taper of 27-22 or 26-22 depending on the leather. If you have a larger 47mm Radiomir case, like a PAM323, I highly recommend going with straps of 4.5mm thickness or above. I have even designed some custom aftermarket Radiomir straps specifically for the 47mm Radiomir cases that have a bolstered taper where the strap meets the case.
Please do not hesitate to contact me prior to the purchase of your custom Panerai Radiomir strap. I would be happy to guide you on your journey towards the best bespoke strap for your individual needs. I pride myself in all aftermarket Panerai straps that I produce. In addition, I complete the entire process by hand without templates or machines of any sort. Furthermore, I use the absolute basic tools, the same tools that I used as a boot maker for nearly two decades. Finally, as a result of the hand made nature of these straps, no two are identical.
